Professional sports teams based in New York, including those from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, WNBA and NWSL, have joined together to produce a video in which the organizations rally around a unifying message amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Released simultaneously on the teams’ respective official social media channels on Thursday morning, the “We are in this together” video features sobering images of empty subway stations, people living in isolation and first responders working tirelessly on the front lines.
These striking photographs are followed by game-action footage featuring the Yankees, Giants, Knicks and the rest of New York’s teams, along with fans and everyday people wearing team regalia and/or playing sports.
The imagery coveys how sports can serve as a unifying, restorative and celebratory force.
