Baseball was back on Saturday, at least kind of. Exhibition games took place for a handful of teams across the league ahead of the 60-game season’s Opening Day on Thursday. One of those exhibition games took place in New York.
The Mets and Yankees played their exhibition game at Citi Field on Saturday night, with the Yankees winning 9-3 behind a strong four-inning effort from Michael King.
The Yankees added five runs in the top of the 9th inning when Mets relievers Edwin Diaz and Daniel Zamora were only able to get one out while seven batters reached base against them.
Yankees outfielder Clint Frazier, one of a handful of Major Leaguers planning to wear a face mask throughout the season, cracked a two-run homer in the 4th inning off Mets pitcher Rick Porcello.
