It looked like the Jets might do the unthinkable and win a game Monday night, but they blew it, falling 30-27 to the Patriots at MetLife Stadium.
Former Jets kicker Nick Folk made a 51-yard field goal as time expired to give the Patriots the win and hand a Jets a heartbreaking loss. The kick was set up by a 20-yard pass from Patriots quarterback Cam Newton to receiver Jakobi Meyers, who had 12 catches for 169 yards.
“It hurts,” Jets coach Adam Gase said. “I thought guys, they battled. They gave everything they had. We just had a few mistakes that really cost us, cost us the game.”
The Jets blew a 10-point, fourth-quarter lead thanks to a Joe Flacco interception, a defense that could not stop the Patriots late when it needed to and the offense going three-and-out when it got the ball with less than two minutes left.
“That was a tough loss right there,” wide receiver Jamison Crowder said. “That was a game that we should have won.”

The Jets fell to 0-9 for the first time in franchise history. It is the first time the Jets have had a nine-game losing streak during one season. It is the second-longest losing streak in team history. The Jets lost 12 straight games spanning the 1995 and ’96 seasons. The Jets’ losing streak against the Patriots is now nine games.
