According to BetMGM sportsbooks this Hot Stove season, the Mets are the most popular choice to win the 2021 World Series by a wide margin.
The Amazin’s account for 24.6 percent of all tickets and 31.2 percent of total money wagered at BetMGM sportsbooks nationwide, more than doubling the runner-up Yankees in both categories. The Yankees have been selected to win the World Series on 12.1 percent of tickets and account for 14.2 percent of the handle.
“The Mets are in a big market with lots of fans, and New York made some splashy moves in the offseason by trading for Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco,” said Seamus Magee, a sports trader at BetMGM.
The Mets opened at 25/1 to win the World Series and their current odds are 12/1.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are the favorites to win the World Series at 7/2 at BetMGM. They rank fifth in percentage of tickets at 8.4 and third in percentage of total handle at 10.5. The Yankees are second-favorites at 6/1, followed by the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres (both 9/1), the Chicago White Sox (10/1) and then the Mets (12/1).
