Autographed Michael Jordan Jersey Sells For $240,000

A jersey worn by Michael Jordan during a 1998 game that was later autographed by the Chicago Bulls legend recently sold for nearly a quarter-million dollars at auction.

The jersey was donned by Jordan in a showdown with the Washington Wizards at United Center on April 7, 1998. Jordan enjoyed one of his patented outstanding performances in the Bulls’ 103-85 victory, scoring 30 points.

The auction of the prized piece of game-worn memorabilia run by Robert Edward Auctions concluded over the weekend. When it was all said and done, a $240,000 bid won the auction.

The game-worn jersey was previously purchased at auction for $10,000 by late Hollywood legend Penny Marshall in 2005.

The increased interest in Jordan memorabilia of late — and the stunning amount of money changing hands — is in large part inspired by the “The Last Dance,” the 10-part ESPN docuseries that chronicled Jordan’s career and his final season with the Bulls that turned into a pop culture phenomenon earlier this year.
