Jets Get Reality Check as Bears Completely Dominate in Ugly Loss

The Chicago Bears defeated the New York Jets 23-12 at Soldier Field on Sunday. Despite missing starting quarterback Caleb Williams, the Bears secured the victory behind a dominant running game to improve to 4-1.

The short-handed Bears controlled the game from start to finish despite starting quarterback Caleb Williams watching from the sidelines with a hamstring injury. Tyson Bagent stepped in under center, but it was rookie running back Kyle Monangai who carried the workload for Ben Johnson’s offense. Monangai pounded the Jets defense for a career-high 146 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries.

The Bears’ defense kept Geno Smith and the Jets’ offense bottled up for most of the afternoon. Chicago jumped out to a 13-3 halftime lead and extended it to 23-6 in the fourth quarter. The Jets’ lone touchdown came late on a 58-yard strike from Smith to Isaiah Williams.
