New “Charlie’s Angels” Video

It’s impossible for “Don’t Call Me Angel” — the new single by the diva trifecta of Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey from the soundtrack to the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels” remake — to live up to “Independent Women,” the Destiny’s Child smash that served as the anthem for the 2000 “Angels” movie.

It’s no contest, really: Ariana, Miley and Lana do not get down like Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle.

But “Don’t Call Me Angel,” which was dropped early Friday along with the song’s video, still has its own brand of femme fierceness. Starting with a twinkling hook, the song gives way to a thumping beat as Grande coos the chorus: “Boy, don’t call me angel/You ain’t got me right/Don’t call me angel/You can’t pay my price/Came from no heaven/Yeah, you heard me right … Even though you know we fly … Don’t call me angel.”
