Joe Burrow Sets NFL Rookie Record In His First Career Win

Joe Burrow helped lead the Cincinnati Bengals to a 33-25 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, earning his first career victory and setting an NFL rookie record in the process. The number one overall pick in the NFL Draft completed 25 of 36 passes for 300 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

By throwing for 300 yards, Burrow became the first-ever rookie to throw for 300 yards in three consecutive games. He threw for 316 yards in a 35-30 loss against the Browns and notched 312 passing yards in a 23-23 tie against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Burrow credited Bengals head coach Zac Taylor for helping him feel comfortable as he adjusts to playing in the NFL.

“I think Zac has done a great job of asking what I’m comfortable with and calling those plays,” Burrow said. “And he understands what I like in certain situations.”

In the first four games of his NFL career, Burrow has completed 65.5 percent of his passes and is averaging 280 yards per game. He has thrown six touchdowns and two interceptions. He has rushed for 75 yards and scored one rushing touchdown.

Burrow has given the franchise hope for a bright future.

“He’s going to be the face of this franchise for a very long time,” Bengals safety Jessie Bates said.
