NY Jets Were Competitive, But Lose To Buffalo Bills 18-10

The New York Jets are now 0-7, following an 18-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

After going up 10-0 at the midpoint of the second quarter, the Jets offense went cold and the Bills rattled off 18 unanswered points. With the win, the Bills are 5-2 and atop the AFC East.

The Buffalo Bills, trailing 10-6 to the winless New York Jets at halftime, faced a gut check for their whole season. The game wasn’t pretty, but the Bills tightened up their fundamentals, shut out the Jets in the second half, and gritted out an 18-10 win.

Buffalo entered the weekend after two consecutive losses, their pride was badly bruised, and so was their roster. The uneasy feeling that this team might lose to the league’s worst team, and see their season rapidly spiral out of control, carried right into the game.

The Bills were all out of sorts early in the game. Offensively, the team was unbalanced. Defensively, they let the Jets control the clock, with 10 points scored on the first three drives.

But the Jets offense completely stalled in the second half, and the Bills chipped away at the scoreboard with field goals, and the Jets offense couldn’t respond.

For the Jets, QB Sam Darnold (12 of 23, 120 yards, 2 INT, 31.1 rating) was sacked six times and the offensive line looked lost.
